The Enneagram Basics for Each Enneagram Number


Doesn’t it sound wonderful to serve and live from your strengths instead of worrying about your weaknesses?

I thought so too. Which is one of the many reasons I was drawn to the Enneagram.

Uncovering all the layers of your Enneagram number can equip you with a list of superpowers that make you uniquely YOU.

But, how do you know which number is yours?

In case you’re new to the Enneagram, here’s my take on the Enneagram 101 (and the basics of each number).

Enneagram One – The Reformer

Desire/Motivation: to be good, to be right, to have integrity 

Fear: being corrupt or defective or wrong 

Enneagram Two – The Helper

Desire/Motivation: to be loved 

Fear: of being unwanted or unworthy of love

Enneagram Three – The Achiever

Desire/Motivation: to be valuable 

Fear: of being worthless 

Enneagram Four – The Individualist 

Desire/Motivation: to find themselves and their significance 

Fear: that they have no identity or personal significance 

Enneagram Five – The Investigator

Desire/Motivation: to be capable/competent 

Fear: being useless, helpless, incapable 

Enneagram Six – The Loyalist

Motivation: to be safe and secure 

Fear: of being w/out guidance & support

Enneagram Seven – The Enthusiast

Motivation: to be satisfied & content, to have their needs fulfilled

Fear: of being deprived or trapped in pain

Enneagram Eight – The Challenger

Motivation: to protect themselves and be independent  

Fear: of being harmed or controlled by others 

Enneagram Nine – The Peacemaker

Desire/Motivation: to have inner stability, peace of mind

Fear: of conflict or separation
